Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week

Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week If you are looking for glamour, fantasy and entertainment, the recent SS 2015 Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week which took place on 30th January 2015 was the place for them.

It is good to be able to fantasise in those glamorous looking designs even though you can’t afford to buy them. Although haute couture are becoming more wearable, most designs are to decorate your wardrobes even if you have one; because you will struggle to find an event to wear any of those designs.

The Haute Couture Fashion Week showcased many shades of colours, high impact hues, bold, vibrant and vivid colours mimicking spring flowers and the colours of the rainbow.

Haute Couture Fashion Designers:

There are not many of them when you think of the numerous fashion houses; but haute couture fashion designers are mostly a handful of the well-known designers with history attached to them. Starting from Chanel to the not so famous fashion house. Chanel is a famous fashion establishment, even a baby born yesterday will cherish what Chanel has to offer.

It makes sense to start with Chanel, which has become one of the most talked-about, anticipated and well-attended shows in haute couture history.

Following Chanel was Dior haute couture featuring printed catsuits, ballerina dresses and the most talked about latex leggings and shoes.

There were printed catsuits, ballerina dresses and plenty of sequins, as well as knitted minidresses, crop tops and stripes in abundance. Perhaps the most talked-about item on the catwalk was the latex legging boots in bold, primary colours and ankle boots with Perspex heels.

Similar in style was the Ralph & Russo runway show, attended by Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and her husband according to The Mail Online.  The design was nature inspired. The not so old fashion designer, Zuhair Murad, is a Lebanese fashion designer, who is loved by Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Jennifer Lopez, sent models down the runway in beautifully embellished floral tulle gowns. The gowns which were decorated with blush pink rosebuds and smatterings of sparkle will definitely make another runway show on the red carpet awards in time to come.

The ornate gowns were sometimes slashed from the chest to the naval, but the long sleeves and floor-length hemlines kept a certain conservatism about them

Jean Paul Gaultier’s runway show started with bridal theme in a cloud of dry ice to the beats of Billy Idol’s White Wedding. His models looked as flamboyant as can be imagined. Each model that followed looked as flamboyant as the one before it from a red snake-skin blinged up trench-dress to a modern take on Madonna’s famous conical bra.

Lindsey Wixson walked the runway show in a dungaree style gown teamed with an unusual hat similar to a beekeeper’s hat.

Whilst Valentino is a popular designer amongst the celebrities with many of them having chosen his designs for their weddings. No wonder his designs focused on romance and poetic illustrations with embellishment so much so that some of his Twitter followers are finding it difficult to get over the designs.

Famous Models at the PFW Haute Couture

Naomi Campbell, looking young as ever, was seen with fashion designer, Jean Paul Gaultier on the runway at the end of the designer’s catwalk show.
Kendall Jenner modelled Chanel’s crop top and lavish skirt embellished with numerous ornate floral sequins and tulle.

Why Are Haute Couture Prices So Unreachable?

First, they are bespoke or custom-made pieces of fashion items that require hours and hours of work, mostly hand-made. They are made in limited editions, meaning that they are sometimes less that a hundred in production for a particular item; making them really hard and expensive to get. A piece of item, for instance a dress, may require hundreds if not thousands of hours of workmanship to achieve the required perfection. Imagine how much that would cost when it is in its finished state.

One dress, which was splashed with the moon and smatterings of stars, took a staggering 3,000 hours to embroider on hand painted linen.

Celebrities in Attendance

Kris jenner, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Anna Wintour and Kristin Stewart were some of the known celebrities that attended the Spring / Summer 2015 Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week (SS15 PFW).

Fashion Trends To Watch In Spring / Summer 2015.

  • Embelishment, sequins
  • Petals, prints, flowers and deity of roses mimicking nature
  • The shiny latex legging boots which no doubt will be copied by other fashion designers. I can see this trend being split into leggings and boots giving the wearers a choice of either or both. This is in essence making haute couture fashion more wearable and accessible.
